A smarter way to manage your fleet with Navixy’s Business assets

We continue to refine and enhance the Navixy platform to meet the real-world needs of fleet managers and telematics professionals. With the upcoming update to the Web UI, we’ll be introducing Business assets – a structured way to manage fleet assets beyond just tracking GPS devices. This update will enable a more intuitive approach to fleet operations, providing greater visibility, control, and efficiency in managing vehicles, staff members, and other tracked assets.

The challenge: Making sense of fleet data

Fleet management isn’t just about tracking GPS devices—it’s about managing assets, people, and their relationships.

Challenges fleet managers and dispatchers face:

• Lack of clear asset relationships: Managing fleet operations requires knowing which vehicles are assigned to which employees and tracking their historical interactions.
• Focus on trackers instead of business-critical assets: Simply monitoring GPS trackers doesn’t provide a holistic view of fleet performance and responsibilities.
• Restricted access to asset-related data: Managers may need real-time visibility into the vehicles or equipment assigned to drivers.

The solution: Business assets

Navixy’s new Business assets feature will redefine fleet management by introducing structured object types:

• Vehicles
• Staff

With this structured approach, fleet managers will be able to:

✔ Store all relevant information about their business assets within Navixy and access it instantly.

✔ View relationships between assets—for example, which employee is currently using a specific vehicle.

✔ Manage asset assignments more efficiently, both manually and via IoT integrations like RFID or iButton.

How it works: Establishing relationships between assets

Business assets will allow users to define relationships between fleet objects, ensuring better management and real-time tracking. Key rules will include:

• A vehicle can be assigned to only one employee at a time.
• A staff member can be linked to only one vehicle at a time.
• Assignments can be updated manually or automatically based on IoT device data (e.g., RFID tags, iButton credentials).
• Users attempting to modify existing relationships will receive system notifications clarifying changes.

Additionally, all Business assets can be associated with IoT devices, but this is optional, providing flexibility for different use cases. Each entity can also have an avatar or icon assigned for quick identification within the platform.
