# SMS channel usage

Configure how a GPS device uses its SMS channel in Navixy with the SMS channel usage block, including a low-battery alert mode.

Selects which messages the device sends exclusively via the SMS channel instead of the mobile data connection (GPRS). This is useful when mobile data is unavailable or unreliable, for example in areas with weak coverage.

Enabling SMS delivery for a message type increases the number of SMS messages the device sends, which may incur additional charges depending on the SIM plan.

## Settings

The block shows a list of message types that can be sent via the SMS channel. Available options depend on the device model. The most common option is:

* **Low battery**: send a low-battery alert via SMS.

Appears on device models that expose SMS channel options.
